This is entitled why go anymore because this is honestly how I feel about school. This is not my declaration that school sucks so I won't go. No, it's nothing like that. It's why go anymore because I don't feel safe. If I can't go to school where it's suppose to be a safe haven and feel safe then why go at all. Recently in the news, you heard the story of the 14 year old in Ohio who shot at four people and then killed himself. He was one of those that had been on the radar but they didn't pay close attention as they should have. So, he opened fire on the students. I remember watching the news and they had video that showed a girl who talked about how all she could do was run because she knew the boy and he didn't like her. I'm thinking of the extremes because there are people that I don't like but I would never think that those people would pick up a gun and come to school and shoot at the students.
Virginia Tech, that was a travesty, and that's another reason why I don't feel safe within my own school. I understand that I shouldn't compare my school to every other school in the nation but it is a possibility and I would like to feel safe when my parent drops me off at school and I enter into the building. I'm not the only person. It's almost a chain reaction. Now, an Oregon Amish teacher wants to be able to carry a gun with him to school.
So, it's not okay. Not to mention there was Columbine High School back in 1999. I was only nine years old but the fact of the matter is, yes, the system has changed a tad bit by changing the methods of handling and how to deal with said incidents but there isn't a method that prevents things like this from happening at all.
I mean school is not always going to be safe but we have to have something to enforce means of security. A year ago at the High'>High School I attend we had a stabbing and the whole campus was on lock down and we remained inside the same class for an extra hour .Then, classes continued as if nothing happened. There were all kinds of rumors going on about the situation but I went home only to discover the "truth." That day in the hallway I saw some remnants of what occurred earlier that day. It was a little frightening for me to know that the exact same hallway I walked through everyday was a spot where some one could have potentially died.
My thing is there's no way that your parent didn't observe the signs. There are always signs. I don't understand how with Columbine their weapons were hidden away in their homes and so were their plans. They just came across a 14 year old who had weapons cache in his home. How does that make me feel any safer? I do give it to school districts because they have enhanced security but not to the extent I feel safe going to school. Top Shootings in general that have affected the public the most have been in schools. Here are some questions that I have that maybe you can help me out with.
Where are the kids getting these guns from? Why is there no method of security when a kid enters the building with a gun to stop them? We have police dogs for narcotics on campus but some campus particular my own we don't have metal detectors. It would be a hassle to get into school and we shouldn't have to go through that but how do we ensure our safety?

My OPINONS ON THE DAY
I frequent some of the "celebrity" gossip sights if you desire to call them and I'm a little outraged by what's going on. Let's Start with Solange Knowles. Who told her it was okay for her to come back?. I'm not bashing her. She is no longer married. So, whether it's separation or divorce, either one is a hard process on both parties. Not to mention she has a son, Daniel Juelz, who is three. So she's also a single mom.
That's just hard; to be a parent and to jump into the music industry where it's either hit or miss. She's in the studio now working on her new album Solange & The Hadley Street Dreams."It's a melting pot of old sixties and seventies soul mixed with electronica. I wasn't going to do another record because I didn't want to be in the limelight. I liked staying home with my son and expressing myself through writing. But things happened in my life that I wanted to discuss and vent about, so that's how the record came about." Sounds very eclectic but I'm ready to hear the album. And If she wants to come back then let her come back but we all know it's a hard market to jump into because as we see with Kelly Rowland it's even a struggle for her.
She was a prominent member in the former group Destiny's" Child. Her new single "Ghetto" featuring Snoop Dogg is slowly I mean slowly climbing the charts for air time. It's a nice track but I expected more from her. She can do so much better than what she's putting out. I think she just needs to find who she is and where she wants to go right now.
OH my! I Love NewYork is back for it's second season of crud entertainment! Wow, the season premiere came on VH1 last night and might add that's just... just. There are no words for her! She doesn't need a dating show; she needs a follow New York, or Tiffany which ever you prefer, show because she's a character with it her self. And that mother of hers? Let's not even go there today! That would take up all my space! It was a mess but you can catch it for yourself on Mondays at 7 pm on VH1.
Marion Jones! The only thing I can say is wow! Marion Jones, Olympic Champion, pleaded guilty on last Friday (October 5) to two counts of steroid use. So, The 5 medals (2 were gold) she won in sprinting in 2000 in Sydney, Australia all were given back. Now, The IOC (International Olympic Committee) is debating on whether or not to remove her name from all the record books as well. Can you believe that? I understand steroid use I wrong but really Remove her name from the books? They couldn't just put a side note by it? She is to return to court in January of 2008 for sentencing. It's just a shame. A shame I tell you!
